About Connie L. PetersFaith, Creativity, and a Life of Writing

“Hello and welcome! I'm glad you found your way here. I hope you'll feel at home as you explore my writings, photographs, and the many things that inspire me. Through my devotions, poetry, stories, and publications, I hope you'll find encouragement, a little humor, and reminders of God's love along the way.”

Faith, Family, and Adventure

Connie L. Peters and her husband, Loren, are semi-retired caregivers who live in southwest Colorado. They have two grown children in Arizona, whom Connie homeschooled for most of their school years. Together, Connie and Loren spent eighteen years as host-home providers to people with developmental disabilities.

Growing up in western Pennsylvania with four sisters, family has always been an important part of Connie's life. She enjoys visiting and gallivanting with her sisters and their families, exploring new places, and finding inspiration along the way. Her travels have taken her to all fifty states and twenty foreign countries. When she's not writing or traveling, Connie enjoys hiking, kayaking, drawing, painting, singing, reading, crocheting, and playing Canasta and Scrabble. She describes herself as playful, creative, and adventurous, with an odd sense of humor.

A Life of Writing and Creativity

Connie began writing as a young mother, and more than forty years later, writing remains a big part of her life. She writes fiction, poetry, devotions, and creative nonfiction for children and adults. Her work has appeared in books, magazines, take-home papers, websites, and devotional publications. For twelve years, she served as a staff writer for The Presidential Prayer Team's Vantage Point Devotional, and she spent approximately twenty-five years on the board of Southwest Christian Writers.

Since October 2004, Connie has written a poem every day, exploring everything from faith and family to travel, nature, and the humorous side of everyday life. Interestingly, she didn't always consider herself creative. With encouragement from Loren, she learned to think more creatively, draw, paint, and write. Today, she enjoys encouraging others to discover their own creative abilities.

The Muffler Dragon A Poem by Connie L. Peters

One cold, dark night our family of seven
stuffed into the station wagon.

We heard a roar, and Dad proclaimed,

“It’s the Muffler Dragon!”

Fear gripped my six-year-old heart,

but soon I felt like braggin’.

With just a wire, my own brave dad

defeated the Muffler Dragon.

I pictured it by the roadside,

crying, its head waggin’.

And I almost pitied

that mean ol’ Muffler Dragon.

Through the years, I faced my fears

when my feelings were a’laggin’.

I realized that my greatest terror

had been just the muffler draggin’.

So, at times, when you feel

your own emotions saggin’.

Search your mind, for you may find

it was only a “Muffler Dragon.”

Finding God in Everyday Life

Faith is at the heart of Connie's writing. Her devotionals often begin with ordinary moments that lead to spiritual insights, whether through a family memory, a walk in nature, an experience in caregiving, or something learned through prayer and everyday living.

Connie also writes about life's challenges, sharing her experiences with honesty, faith, and a little humor. Readers have described her writing as positive, relatable, and encouraging. Her hope is that others will find encouragement, recognize God's love, and grow through both life's joys and difficult seasons.

An Invitation from Connie

With the Lord's help, I plan to continue sharing devotions, poetry, and stories about the things that are part of my life. Sometimes I'll write about prayer and Christian living, other times about travel, creativity, family, or lessons learned through life's joys and challenges. I hope you'll find something that encourages you along the way.

So, you're invited into my world, and I'm looking forward to interacting with you. Feel free to share your thoughts and prayer requests. I am an avid intercessor. Thank you for visiting!
